Do not you hear ?
Do you dream to pilot ?
In July 1994, more than 30 deaf and hard-of-hearing people with an American Private Pilot's license, which also included one Frenchman and an Australian, met in Knoxville, Tennessee, USA, for the first fly-in of the International Deaf Pilots Association (IDPA). The IDPA is a non-profit organization created to promote the interests of more than 150 deaf pilots (one helicopter-licensed pilot) throughout the world. Its membership includes one Frenchman, one Australian, one Japanese and two Canadians. The IDPA is supported by the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) and the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). In June 1995, under the leadership of Mr. Henri Corderoy du Tiers, a private pilot, several deaf and hard-of-hearing Europeans, including nine Germans, two Italians and over 20 French, met near Paris, France, to establish the European Chapter of the IDPA. In April 1996, this association changed its name to the French Deaf Aviators Association, and became the French chapter of IDPA. This regional association advances the aeronautical interests of the French and European deaf and hard-of-hearing community. One of the goals of the aeroclub-sourds is "to secure, for deaf and hard-of-hearing people in France and in Europe, the right to engage in all aeronautical activities such as airplanes, ultraligths (ULM), gliders, hot-air balloon, hang-gliding, parachuting and skydiving". Both the IDPA and aeroclub-sourds will continue to hold annual fly-ins, training sessions and conferences.
Come on and join the aeroclub-sourds Association NOW !
